Company visit Huppa: from vision to state-of-the-art warehouse
Recently, our CEO Eric Vandenbussche was a guest speaker at a networking event organised by Voka West-Flanders at Fresh Food Partner Huppa in Oostende. Eric shared how Logflow as a logistics architect contributed to the success of the challenging logistics project at Huppa.
He guided the audience through the entire logistics growth story, from strategy to implementation.
It all started in 2014, when Huppa was still Upfresh and managing director Yves Depuydt wanted to realise his logistics dream. True to our motto "think before you begin", we started with a well-thought-out vision and mapped out a trajectory that would lead to the realisation of a state-of-the-art warehouse.
From this vision, we started with inventory optimisation, with which we were able to reduce inventory value by 23%. This laid the foundation for a master plan in 2015 that resulted in a highly automated and state-of-the-art distribution center. Step by step, we helped Upfresh grow into the successful Huppa of today. This trajectory shows that the right vision is crucial for sustainable long-term growth.
Logflow guided the entire trajectory, including tendering, and developed a solution that is both efficient and future-proof. From 2017 to 2020, we worked on scalability and automation. In 2021, we took a critical look at the pitfalls of automation, which led to the choice of TGW as the technology partner for the Huppa project in 2022.
With 168 shuttles, the warehouse is a model of advanced reactivity. It's not just a warehouse; this is a technical masterpiece on 5 levels, with sequencing at box level and cross-docking. This advanced system enables Huppa to operate quickly, flexibly, and flawlessly, and provides a solid foundation for further growth.
The merger of Upfresh and Franky Fresh Food into Huppa in 2023 brought two strong family businesses together. We were already working on a state-of-the-art solution for both companies. This ensured that we could seamlessly translate the merger into a logistics solution that brought both trajectories together.
The result? An exquisite WMS implementation and a state-of-the-art distribution center that fully matches the ambition of the new Huppa group. Workstation optimisation, operator training, and continuous improvements are part of the roll-out that continues into 2025.
We not only support Huppa now, but will continue to guide them in their further growth.
